Autumn School “Thinking community ecology in the Anthropocene”

What are the elements characterising the Anthropocene from an ecological point of view ? How do ecological communities structure themselves ? How to model global change impacts on these communities ? What does that mean for biodiversity conservation practices and for nature’s contribution to people ? What can be the role of researchers in the decision making process regarding ecosystem management ?
If you are also curious about these questions, register to our hybrid event Ecology Autumn School in at Saint-Martin-d’Hères campus, close to Grenoble, France, from 14th to 19th November 2022.

Our event is open to all young researchers in ecology (PhD students and postdoctoral researchers). We particularly encourage the participation of PhD students working in the laboratories associated with the FREE Alpes federation, which stands as our funding partner. Motivated master 2 students can register, but the in-person places are kept in priority for PhD students and post-docs.

On the crossroads of ecology, evolution & conservation

Lectures (in english) will be held from Monday to Friday and will cover a wide range of topics in ecology :

  • Anthropocene impacts
  • Community structuration mechanisms
  • Eco-evolutionnary feedbacks
  • Communities and nature-based solutions

Round tables and practical sessions will be organized to get a more applied focus, and we also plan a poster session to enable PhD and postdoc participants to present their work.
The week will end on Saturday with a hike for those who want in Grenoble surroundings’ mountains.

Schedule

Please note that this planning is preliminary and subject to change.
