Autumn School "Global Change Ecology : from microorganisms to ecosystems"
Interested in different fields of ecology ?
Join ECOTUMN 2025, our self-organized scientific autumn school from 20th to 24th October 2025. We will explore the consequences of global changes at different scales, the existing tools and new methods to study them, and their impact on species conservation.
This event is open to all young researchers in ecology (PhD students and postdoctoral researchers). We particularly thank the LECA and the doctoral schools "Chimie et Sciences du vivant" and "Sciences, Ingéniérie, Environnement" for funding our project.
A Journey through Global Change Ecology
Embark on a scientific journey to the heart of mountain ecology with ECOTUMN, a research school organized by PhD students at the Alpine Ecology Laboratory in Grenoble, France, from October 20 to 24, 2025. This immersive program is designed for PhD students interested in the impact of global change on ecosystems.
If you are interested in (among other things) :
- understanding the implications of microorganisms in biogeochemical cycles,
- how plants and mammals are affected by global changes,
- and how ecology can help implement conservation policies adapted to global changes,
then this theme week is for you. The program includes a series of lectures by specialist researchers from France and Europe in fields as diverse as population genetics, functional ecology, metabolomics, and parasitology, with global changes as the main object of interest.
The week will culminate in a 1-day field ecology excursion in Chartreuse to discover one of the biodiversity monitoring programmes developed by LECA and talk about the impacts of global changes on the Chartreuse’s socio-ecosystem.
Practical information : This event is free of charge (excluding accommodation and travel expenses). We will cover all the lunches and bus travels to Chambéry and Chartreuse. All talks will be held in English and you can benefit from training credits for your doctoral school.
